Keep Corinth Beautiful Commission

The Keep Corinth Beautiful Commission serves as an advisory board to the Mayor and City Council on matters related to parks, recreation, beautification, and environmental stewardship. The Commission actively promotes community improvement through beautification projects, litter prevention, and the reduction of solid waste, while also advising on the planning, and development of City parks and events.

The Commission is comprised of twelve members, ten regular members, and two alternates. Members are nominated by and appointed by the City Council and serve at large. The term of each Commission member shall be two years. No Commission member shall serve more than four successive terms; provided, however, that a Commission member appointed to complete the term of another Commission member shall, at the completion of such term, be eligible for appointment for another full term.

Duties / Responsibilities

The Keep Corinth Beautiful Commission shall act in an advisory capacity to the Mayor, City Council, and the Director of Parks and Recreation on matters related to beautification, litter prevention, recycling education, community improvement, parks, trails, and recreation programs. The Commission’s responsibilities include:

  • Actively promoting community beautification, litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, and environmental stewardship.
  • Advising on the planning, development, and maintenance of parks, trails, playgrounds, and recreational facilities.
  • Recommending policies related to beautification, environmental education, and parks and recreation for approval by the City Council.
  • Recommending standards for the development, design, and financial support of parks, playgrounds, trails, and recreational programs.
  • Conducting annual reviews and surveys of community recreation services and beautification programs to assess public needs and recommend improvements to the City Council and Director of Parks and Recreation
  • Coordinating with other governmental agencies, civic organizations, and community groups to promote collaborative projects such as trail connections, cleanups, and park enhancements.
  • Monitoring City performance under the Keep Texas Beautiful, Inc. affiliate system guidelines and providing annual reports to the City Council.
  • Maintaining membership in Keep Texas Beautiful as an affiliate or higher designation.
  • Serving as an advocate for parks, recreation, and beautification initiatives, encouraging citizen participation and community pride through outreach, volunteer opportunities, and educational programs.

To accomplish these responsibilities, the Commission may establish sub-committees to assist with the performance of the Commission's duties, including but not limited to, the areas of finance/fundraising, clean-up coordination. A Commission member shall serve as chair of each sub-committee, and the sub-committee may have an unspecified number of community volunteers chosen by the Commission to serve as working sub-committee members.
