The proposed 1.0 MG elevated storage tank will increase operational capacity of the water system to deal with peak flows as the city’s population increases.  Adding additional elevated storage increases the ability to maintain reliable system pressures during max days and peak hours.  In addition, the storage tank will allow the city to maintain minimum requirements from TCEQ.

 

Status Updates

September 2023

The project is scheduled to be complete by 2028 to meet the City's growth. 

July 2022

The project is on hold until the water storage needs are evaluated. 

January 2022

During right of way negotiations for the Lake Sharon/Dobbs Rd. Realignment project, the City has decided to locate the water tower closer to I-35E and just north of the new Lake Sharon Dr.

Construction has been delayed due to right of way negotiations and franchise utility relocations. Anticipate construction to begin in Q2 2022.

March 2021

CoServ has continued negotiations with the city for the dedication of the water tower site. Final details are being worked out. Staff anticipates final plan design to be received from the engineer mid April 2021. Final review, bid, award, begin construction Fall 2021.

May 2019

The engineer is finalizing plans on the elevated storage tank.  Staff met with CoServ on February 8, 2019 to discuss the 380 or developer agreement for the land as well as other necessary items.
