Culvert capacity improvement project between Meadows Drive and the eastern City Limits. 

The City of Corinth has allocated $2,000,000, Shady Shores and Denton County have allocated $20,000,000 for the roadway and drainage improvements.

 

Status Updates

September 2023

The City received verbal okay to start the bond project with Denton County to make roadway widening of W. Shady Shores which would then require full drainage improvements for the area. The City will use it's allocated $1,200,000 for drainage improvements in the project area to fund the City's responsibility for the project. 

Staff is working with engineers and Shady Shores to develop a scope for the project.  The initial schedule is:

-ILA with Shady Shores 10/19/2023

-ILA with Denton County 11/16/2023

-Notice to proceed to engineering 11/16/2023

-100% design 9/2024

-Construction 1/2025-1/2027

The City has allocated $1,200,000 for drainage improvements in the project area. 

Staff began coordination with a consulting firm for the design of drainage improvements from the eastern City limits towards Meadows Drive. The goal is to be able to construct underground drainage structures for at least 1/2 of the project area.

There is a future bond project with Denton County to make roadway widening of W. Shady Shores which would then require full drainage improvements for the area. 

January 2022

The City of Corinth has engaged Freese & Nichols Inc. to analyze the watershed contributing to the drainage culverts along Shady Shores Road. This is in anticipation for culvert capacity improvements to be performed in the future between Meadows Drive and the eastern City Limits.
